NBA invests in AI scheduling specialist Fastbreak.ai

The National Basketball Association (NBA) has invested in artificial intelligence (AI) scheduling tech developer Fastbreak.ai.

Confirmed:

  • NBA Equity is a seed round investor in Fastbreak.ai
  • League to incorporate startup’s AI tech into its scheduling process
  • Tech will also be used to schedule the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA), G League and the NBA2K League

Context:

The NBA is the latest property to partner with Fastbreak.ai, joining the likes of the National Hockey League (NHL), the Southeastern Conference (SEC) and Major League Pickleball in using the company’s scheduling technology.

Last year, Fastbreak.ai closed a US$5.2 million seed financing round led by Greycroft. Other investors include Charlotte Hornets forward Gordon Hayward and retired National Football League (NFL) player Greg Olsen.

Fastbreak.ai will assist the league in optimising its schedule, while the NBA’s finances and other resources will help the startup expand further.
